Wayne County Man Charged With Assaulting 12-Year-Old



WAYNESBORO, TN- A Wayne County Man was jailed for allegedly assaulting a 12-year-old, according to court documents the incident is domestic in nature.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office says they were dispatched to a residence on Simmons Branch Road on Saturday, March 10, to an alleged Domestic Violence call. As a result of that call George Delo Griggs, 32, Waynesboro was arrested. 


According to Wayne County Deputy Sheriff Eric Wilson's report when he arrived at the residence, he took a statement from the 12-year-old reported victim, who told the deputy that Griggs had allegedly grabbed him by the neck, threatening to “snap his neck and kill him.”
The alleged victim is said to have left the residence and went to a neighbor’s home to call 911.
Court documents say that Emergency Services responded to the scene, and the alleged victim was confirmed to have red marks and scratches on his neck and throat.
Griggs reportedly denied intending to do harm to the victim.
Griggs was arrested on the charge of  Aggravated Domestic Assault and booked into the Wayne County Jail. Bond was set at $50,000.
According to booking information, Griggs was later transferred to a facility for a mental health evaluation.
