Man Arrested In 2001 Murder Of Joleen Abernathy Ingram

PULASKI, TN-A Cannon County man has been arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of Joleen Abernathy Ingram.

A press release from the Giles County Sheriff's Office says their investigators, in conjunction with the Cannon County Sheriff’s Department, executed a search warrant at the home of David Arnold Johnson, 66, of Auburntown on Friday.

Johnson was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder for the 2001 death of 51-year-old Joleen Abernathy Ingram.

According to release, “The Sheriff’s Department has worked on this case since 2001 and recently discovered some new information that led Investigator Timmy Scott to take the case to a Giles County Grand Jury and subsequently indict Johnson for the murder.

“Sheriff Helton said he knows this will not bring Joleen back but may bring some comfort to her family and friends to know sheriff's office has developed probable cause and charged the person responsible for her death.”
District Attorney Brent Cooper told WOPC HD News, "We are glad we can pursue justice for the victims family. The Giles County Sheriff's Office never gave up and their persistence paid off in this case."

Johnson remains in Giles County Jail with no bond at this time.
