Lawrenceburg Firefighter Killed Battling Fire

LAWRENCEBURG, TN - Part of a structure reportedly collapsed on firefighters battling a house Monday evening. The scene is located at Hood Lakes, not far from the local hospital.

Sources tell WOPC-HD News that a 'mayday protocol' was called for, often meaning a firefighter is in danger or injured.

A Lawrence County official confirmed that one firefighter, Jason Dickey was killed.  Two additional firefighters  were injured. State officials announced the name Tuesday morning.

The body of the firefighter was escorted to the medical examiners office in Nashville by a firetruck. Firefighters from Lawrenceburg served as an honor guard to their fallen brother outside the office.

A press conference has been called for 10 a.m.

Flags were lowered outside of the Tennessee Fire Academy Tuesday morning in honor of the fallen firefighter.
