Decatur County Teen Faces Charges After Alleged Threats

DECATURVILLE, TN- A 15-year-old faces charges after alleged threats were made this week
Decatur County Sheriff Keith Byrd says that a 15-year-old student will face charges after he allegedly made threats to another teen.

"The student threated his girlfriend, another teen and others" Byrd said. He said "originally it was reported as a suicide threat."

The threats reportedly occurred earlier in the week.

The sheriff said that originally the plan was to handle the situation in the school but that his investigators and the school's resource officer learned that the alleged threat was larger than originally thought.

Byrd said "in cases like these it's better to err on the side of caution."

According to the sheriff, the student has been suspended and charges are pending.

Due to the student's age, details of the charges will not be released.
