Winter Storm Watch Issued

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for all counties in West Tennessee and several in Middle Tennessee. The Watch begins Thursday through Friday overnight.
Among the counties listed in the watch Friday: ALL WEST TENNESSEE COUNTIES. In Middle Tennessee: Stewart, Montgomery, Robertson, Houston, Humphreys, Dickson, Cheatham, Perry, Hickman, Lewis and Wayne. The watch forecast area is expected to expand to other areas.

In a bulletin issued Wednesday, The National Weather Service noted:

WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH
FRIDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation possible. Plan on difficult
travel conditions, including during the morning and evening
commute on Friday. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches and
ice accumulations of up to two tenths of an inch are possible.

* WHERE...Portions of Middle Tennessee.

* WHEN...From Friday morning through Friday evening.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Significant reductions in visibility are
possible.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is potential for significant
snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue
to monitor the latest forecasts.

An additional bulletin was issued to cover the counties in West Tennessee:

...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH
FRIDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation possible. Power outages and
tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel will be dangerous
and nearly impossible, including during the morning commute on
Friday. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches and ice
accumulations of one tenth to three tenths of an inch are
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of East Arkansas, North Mississippi,
Southeast Missouri and West Tennessee.

* WHEN...From late Thursday night through Friday evening.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Significant reductions in visibility are
possible.
