Nashville Named To Amazon's Top 20 For New Headquarters 50,000 Jobs

NASHVILLE, TN- Nashville is one of the fastest growing cities in America, and Amazon officials today named "Music City" as a finalist for its second headquarters.

Earlier today Amazon released its list that had been narrowed to 20 locations. One of the those 20 will become the future home of Amazon's second headquarters.

The company said in a press release they will spend $5 billion in the city that they choose. They will also employee 50,000 people there.

The company had said earlier they are looking for a metropolitan area with a population of 1 million people and a stable, business friendly environment.

Recent studies show that Tennessee is one of the most business friendly states and the population of Metro-Nashville is 1,800,000.

Other cities in the running are Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Miami, Montgomery County Md., Newark, New York City, Northern Virginia, Philadelphia, Pittsburg, Raleigh, Toronto and Washington D.C.

The 20 areas that were selected will work with Amazon over the next few months to "evaluate the feasibility of a future partnership" the company said.

Amazon is expected to make a final decision this year
