Lawrence County Hit-And-Run Results In Woman Airlifted

LAWRENCE COUNTY, TN- In the past two weeks Lawrence County has had several violent incidents, another happened Wednesday night.
The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a call that a man had ran over a women with a vehicle in the Mars Hill Community at approximately 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

When deputies arrived a witness told them that he had witnessed an argument between a couple and that the man had thrown his car in reverse causing a women to fall from the passengers side of the vehicle onto the road. The witness said the man then sped away and running over the woman.

The woman was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center from Mars Hill Baptist Church, no update is available on her condition.

The man who allegedly fled the scene was identified as Damien Gieske . Gieske was stopped by an officer in Loretto and held there until a deputy could pick him up for questioning about the incident.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol was notified since the accident occurred on a public roadway outside of the city limits. Gieske was taken into custody by the THP and they also took over the investigation of the incident.

Gieske was later book into the Lawrence Count Detention Center on charges of Aggravated Domestic Assault, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Failure to Give Immediate Notification On Accident.
