Hinson: Notes From Friday's Tournament

In the second game of the Above the Rim Tournament, the Lady Vikings were looking for some redemption against the Lady Indians of Harpeth. The Girls in Black came out red out just like they did against Columbia Academy and led 21-6 after the first quarter. In the second, it was much of the same, junior guard Jaycie Roberts led the way in the second quarter for Perry County as they led 37-19 at the half. In the third quarter however, the Lady Indians weren’t going to go away quietly. A big 8-0 run by Harpeth and it pulled the Lady Indians to within 7 points. That was as close as they got as the Lady Vikings went on to win 63-49.

The Vikings went to Mt. Pleasant to take on Zion Christian in their first game of the Powerade Classic. The Vikings and Eagles were neck and neck throughout the first half. The Vikings were down by as many as eight before coming back to take the lead momentarily. The Eagles two point guards were slicing and dicing to the basket as they made some ridiculously hard shots. At the half the Eagles led 38-33. In the second half, the turnover bug was sweeping across the Vikings team. PCHS got to within three points but could never get any closer as the Eagles went on to win 71-66.
