Hardin County Medical Center Placed On Lockdown Due To Bomb Threat

SAVANNAH, TN- The Savannah Police Department said they responded to a "bomb threat" today at the Hardin County Medical Center. They were assisted by multiple agencies including the Hardin County Sheriff's Office, 24th Judicial Task Force and a K-9 unit from the Jackson Police Department, that dog is special trained to sniff out bombs.

Visitors and non-essential personnel were evacuated during the search. The hospital was placed on lockdown while the facility was searched.

No bomb was found and the facility has been ruled clear.

Police say that Hardin County Medical Center notified them that a patient had received a direct call to thier room which said their was a bomb in the hospital. 

Further investigation was able to determine that the patients room had not received a call in the past 24 hours. That patient is believed to suffer from dementia.

Police say in a press release that they belive the call was false and the hospital was under no threat. 

The hospital was on lockdown for approximately two hours.
