Charges In DUI Accident That Injured Child


PERRY COUNTY, TN- An 18-year-old man has been arrested for an October, 2017, head on collision that sent several people including a 7-year-old to the hospital.
According to warrant information , Reese Brooks, 18, Linden, was allegedly intoxicated when he hit a vehicle driven by Cora Beth Sanders. The accident happened on HWY 412 near the Decatur and Perry County lines.

That accident injured several people including Sanders and her  7-year-old daughter, Ava. Both were transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center. Passengers in Brooks' vehicle were also injured.

The accident happened just a couple days before Halloween, which caused the 7-year-old injured in crash to miss trick-or-treating. Local citizens heard of Ava's injures and gathered up candy and treats and delivered them her in the hospital in Nashville. 

Warrants were issued for Brooks on two counts each of Vehicular Assault and Reckless Endangerment.

The warrants also say the Reese is charged with putting his passengers lives in danger.

Brooks turned himself into the Perry County Sherriff's Office.
