Lawrence County Investigator Charged With DUI

Lawrenceburg- A Lawrence County sheriff’s deputy was arrested Friday night on charges of driving under the influence after allegedly running his truck into a tree, according to a report obtained from the Lawrenceburg Police Department.

Robert Lee Denton, 51, of Lawrenceburg, was charged with DUI.

According to a police report obtained by WOPC HD News, LPD officers at approximately 8:30 pm were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash in the area of Kay and Windsor Street.

When the officer arrived he found a 2016 Ford F-150  off the road and against a tree.

According to the report, the driver was observed to be unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech and  had a strong odor of alcohol

Denton was identified as the driver and police say that he admitted to drinking.

The report says that Denton declined a field sobriety test and a blood and breath test.

Denton was transported to the Lawrence County Jail and Charged with Driving Under the Influence.

According to a member of law enforcement, Denton serves as a supervisor in the narcotics and criminal investigation division with the Lawrence County Sheriffs Office.

At the time of this report, the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office has not replied for a request for comment.
